Ces lettres posent les jalons de la vie d’Isaac Louverture et de sa femme Louise Chancy et l’étude de leurs correspondants ouvre de nouvelles perspectives sur les réseaux tissés par les élites noires françaises au début du xixe siècle. À mi-chemin entre Haïti et la métropole, se dessine ainsi une construction identitaire marquée par l’espace atlantique. |

These letters reflect the daily life of the couple while being exiled in France; above all, these documents allow us to learn more about their contacts and, therefore, to deepen our understanding of Black networks in the 19 th century France. It is clear that the identity of the Louverture family is still built between Haïtï and France during all the 19 th century. |
