| Summary, etc. | Cet article étudie le transfert d’une notion du champ disciplinaire de l’ethnographie de la communication à celui des Literacy studies : du speech event proposé par Dell Hymes au literacy event. Après avoir présenté les définitions de ces notions dans leurs courants respectifs, leur comparaison nous permet de pointer certaines similitudes entre les démarches méthodologiques et théoriques de ces courants et entre leurs définitions des « events ». Cela nous amène à éclairer les limites conceptuelles communes aux deux notions. Ces limites semblent liées aux ambiguïtés de la notion d’ event par rapport à celles d’activité, d’action et d’acte, et au manque de précision quant à la temporalité de ces « événements ». |

| Summary, etc. | « Speech event » and « Literacy event » concepts in Ethnography of Communication and Literacy Studies This paper studies the transfer of a concept from the disciplinary field of Ethnography of Communication to Literacy Studies : from « speech event », forged by Dell Hymes, to « literacy event ». After expounding these concepts’ definitions in their respective fields, the paper compares both concepts. It points out some similarities between methodological and theoretical approaches of these fields and between their definitions of « events ». This allows us to clarify the conceptual limits shared by both concepts : these limits seem to be linked to the vagueness of the « event » concept compared with those of activity, action and act, and to the lack of definition of the events’ temporality. |
