Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | This young woman, Dora, dragged by her father against her will into an analysis, confides to Freud, on their very first meeting, what she has never said to anyone else before. In the course of the following meetings she will come out with some substantial « material » while maintaining an apparent aggressiveness. The author suggests the following hypothesis : Dora’s unconscious positive transference has been made possible because Freud is the first person in her usual sphere who believes her, who believes in the lake scene. The progress of the psychoanalysis can be detected in the subjective displacement that appears between the two dreams. The end of the cure that Dora anticipates in her second dream, at the very moment when Freud is suspecting its possibility, raises questions concerning the effects of the transference at stake for the two protagonists. |
