| Summary, etc. | Mohammad Shahrour appelle à une relecture contemporaine du Coran afin de résoudre les problèmes actuels auxquels le monde arabo-musulman est confronté. Selon lui, l’état de nos connaissances actuel doit être à la base de cette relecture. En effet, Dieu a fait l’homme libre et raisonnable, lui laissant la responsabilité d’adapter ses lois, tout en respectant les limites qu’il a imposées. La connaissance est donc un des enjeux actuels car sans connaissance, il n’y a pas de choix et là où il n’y a pas de choix, il n’y a pas de liberté. |

According to him, the contemporary knowledge has to be the basis for this re-reading. God created men free and rational and left them the responsibility to adapt His laws, while maintaining respect for the limits He has declared. Knowledge is hence one of the prevailing challenges : without knowledge, there is no choice, and in the absence of choice, there can be no freedom. |
