| Summary, etc. | Les séjours à l’hôpital sont des moments de questionnements intenses autour du devenir, de la vie et de la mort. Dans ces moments intenses, lieu de soin et d’hospitalité, l’hôpital peut et devrait offrir aux patients et à leurs proches un ou des espaces de paix, de méditation où émotions et spiritualité peuvent s’exprimer de façon naturelle et intime. Ceci a guidé la démarche d’installation du « mètre cube d’infini » du maître italien Michangelo Pistoletto à l’ Institut Paoli Calmettes, le Centre régional de lutte contre le cancer de Marseille-France.Inauguré en 2000, ce lieu de rencontre entre santé et spiritualité, centré autour l’œuvre de Pistoletto, est un espace multiconfessionnel dédié à la méditation et à la prière. Présenté à travers des alcôves ouvertes et contiguës, l’espace accueille les patients de toutes les confessions, y compris les agnostiques, leur permettant de méditer face aux questions douloureuses soulevées par la rencontre avec la maladie dans un environnement radicalement nouveau, dont la beauté invite à une réflexion spirituelle au-delà d’une pratique stricte des cultes religieux. |

| Summary, etc. | Periods of hospitalization are intense moments of questioning revolving around issues of life and death during which the hospital, a place of care and hospitality, can and should offer patients and their loved ones peace and meditation, where spirituality and emotions can be expressed naturally and discreetly. This is what guided the conception of the Infinite Cubic Meter “metrocubo d´infinito” by the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto at the Institut Paoli Calmettes, Centre Régional de Lutte contre le Cancer de Marseille. Inaugurated in the year 2000, this meeting place of spirituality and health revolving around the shared artistic work of Pistoletto, is a multi-faith space for meditation and prayer. Arranged in open and contiguous alcoves, it welcomes patients of all faiths and agnostics, allowing them to meditate on the painful questions raised by the encounter with illness in a radically new environment, the beauty of which invites spiritual reflection beyond the strict practice of religious cults. |
