| Summary, etc. | Pour les croyants, la vie interculturelle est une entreprise théologique : elle est motivée par la foi en Dieu et l’amour de Dieu. Elle représente une tentative de vivre une vie commune avec des personnes de diverses cultures, en accueillant les différences culturelles entre les hommes et en créant dans la foulée un nouvel environnement ou une nouvelle « culture » où chacun peut se sentir « chez lui ». Chaque personne devra toutefois procéder à d’importantes adaptations personnelles de son ancien mode de vie, ce qui impliquera kénose ou dépouillement de soi, compromis, patience et dialogue. La vie interculturelle dévoilera les limites culturelles et spirituelles de chacun, mais elle représente un mode de vie biblique de fraternité, de solidarité et de persévérance au profit de la mission et un signe qu’il est en effet « bonum, habitare fratres [et sorores] in unum ». |

| Summary, etc. | For people of faith, intercultural living is a theological undertaking : that is, it is motivated by faith in, and love of God. It represents an attempt to live a common life with people of diverse cultures, by embracing human cultural differences and together creating a new environment or “culture” in which all can find a home. However, each person will be required to make serious personal adjustments to previous ways of living, which will entail kenosis or “self-emptying”, compromise, patience, and dialogue. Intercultural living will expose the cultural and spiritual limitations of everyone, but it represents a biblically-based way of living in fellowship, solidarity and perseverance for the sake of the mission and as a sign that it is indeed “bonum, habitare fratres [et sorores] in unum.” |
