Summary, etc. | Retronychia is a pathology of the nails that mainly occurs on hallux. It consists of in the proximal ingrowing of nail plates, from the nail matrix, whose production is disturbed. First described in 1999 by De Berker and Rendall, it is often confused with ingrown nails or panaris. As a consequence, the related treatment may be the source of therapeutic mistakes, leading to pain chronification and infectious complications. Nevertheless, clinical signs are characteristic and retronychia is easily treatable. We report here, the unusual case of a bilateral toenails retronychia in a 19-year-old man. Through this case and a review of the literature, we recall its clinical characteristics, its physiopathology, and its management. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
