| Summary, etc. | À partir d'un tour d'horizon des normes juridiques qui régulent les relations entre les sexes dans différents pays africains, cet article analyse à travers quels processus les discriminations dont sont victimes les femmes affectent leur pouvoir d'action, leur santé et leur sécurité, et compromettent les perspectives de développement. L'évolution des lois ne garantit pas toujours l'amélioration de la situation des femmes, par exemple en matière d'accès à la terre. En outre, la faible socialisation juridique des femmes et le recours aux stratégies judiciaires ( forum shopping) renforcent la coexistence de plusieurs ordres normatifs qui leur sont défavorables. Malgré la lenteur des progrès constatés, l'ordre normatif coutumier ressort affaibli par les évolutions démographiques qui traversent l'Afrique. |

| Summary, etc. | Poverty and Inequalities of Rights in Africa : A Gendered Perspective Based on a review of the legal standards which control the relations between sexes in different African countries, this article analyzes the processes through which discriminations against women affect their empowerment, their health and their safety, and compromise the development prospects. The evolution of the laws does not always guarantee the improvement of the situation of women, for instance in terms of access to land. Moreover, the weak legal socialization of women and the practices of forum shopping reinforce the coexistence of several normative orders which are unfavourable. In spite of the slowness of noted progress, customary law is weakened by the demographic trends which cross Africa. |
