| Summary, etc. | Reporters Without Borders and World Media Network led an international solidarity campaign on the occasion of the first commemoration of the genocide against the Tutsi. In collaboration with Kinyamateka, they published in forty international newspapers a facsimile of an edition of the Catholic newspaper. “Operation Kinyamateka” allows us to understand the state of the Rwandan press one year after the genocide and the perception that the international media have of the genocide. It reveals an international press campaign hostile to the new Rwandan government, a decisive moment that initiates certain lasting divisions within French circles specializing in Rwanda. |

| Summary, etc. | Au printemps 1995, les organisations Reporters sans frontières et World Media Network conduisent une opération de solidarité internationale à l’occasion de la première commémoration du génocide des Tutsi. Ils font paraître dans une quarantaine de titres internationaux un fac-similé d’une édition du journal catholique Kinyamateka en collaboration avec ce dernier. L’« opération Kinyamateka » permet de faire le point sur l’état de la presse rwandaise un an après le génocide et révèle une campagne de presse internationale hostile au nouveau gouvernement rwandais, un moment décisif qui initie certains clivages durables dans les milieux français spécialistes du Rwanda. |
