| Summary, etc. | Entre 1894 et 1898, le dessinateur Émile Gravelle fait paraître 4 numéros d’un curieux périodique intitulé l’État naturel et la part du prolétaire dans la civilisation. Il y proclame sa haine de la civilisation et décrit la vie préhistorique comme un temps de bonheur et d’abondance. Ses appels au retour à la nature suscitent bientôt la création d’un groupe de « Naturiens libertaires » qui rassemble quelques poignées d’anarchistes de la Butte Montmartre. La manière dont ceux-ci relaient la critique antimoderne de Gravelle et sa promesse d’un retour au paradis perdu conduit à s’interroger sur la force mobilisatrice que recèlent, en certaines circonstances, les avatars contemporains du mythe de l’âge d’or. |

| Summary, etc. | The « Libertarian Naturians » or back to Prehistoric anarchismBetween 1894 and 1898, cartoonist Émile Gravelle published 4 issues of a peculiar periodical entitled The Natural State and the share of the proletariat in civilization. He declared his hatred for civilization and described prehistoric life as an era of happiness and plenty. Soon his calling for a return to nature entailed the creation of a group of “Libertarian Naturians” which gathered together a few anarchists at the Butte Montmartre. The way in which the latter relayed Gravelle’s anti-modernity criticism and his promise for a return to paradise lost leads us to interrogate the mobilizing force contained, under certain circumstances, by contemporary forms of the Golden Age myth. |
