520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | The Group of G7 “Sherpas” : A Diplomacy Led by Experts ? (1975-1990)“Personal representatives” of Heads of State and Government formed, from the creation of G7 summits onwards, a transnational community which distinguished this new multilateral diplomacy from other summits. This article analyses the nature and the impact of the influence exerted by sherpas through their different functions as experts, counsellors or negotiators. It puts forward the idea of a “diplomatization” of sherpas, whose role in the construction of a consensus among the Seven stemmed more from the solidarity of this permanent group than from the (economic) expertise which had initially founded its legitimacy. |
