520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The “Baltic Region” formed by Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is not an historical fact. In order to understand the specificities of this part of “median Europe”, the author analyzes the diversity of population displacements from 1914 onwards and questions their continuities: first, from one World War to another ; and then, from the aftermath of war to the post-Soviet period. The last part of the article puts forth a hypothesis concerning the role of the State and of the memories of displacements throughout the century. |
