| Summary, etc. | À partir de l’ethnographie en ligne de communautés childfree et du traitement lexicographique de publications choisies, l’article étudie l’évolution des discours sur la vie sans enfant dans l’espace anglophone. Depuis une dizaine d’années, les arguments écologiques rencontrent un écho croissant au sein des pages et groupes étudiés. Longtemps structuré par l’opposition entre une infertilité subie et une volonté affirmée de non-parentalité, l’espace childfree s’ouvre de plus en plus aux positions dites « anti-natalistes » qui font de la réduction de la population un objectif politique et/ou une position éthique. Ni malédiction, ni opportunité, la vie sans enfant devient pour certains une décision altruiste et rationnelle, s’imposant pour faire face à l’imminence de la catastrophe écologique. En caractérisant ces arguments et leur diffusion, l’article interroge le sens de discours qui font de la vie sans enfant moins un empêchement que l’expression d’un autre rapport au monde et à la population. |

| Summary, etc. | Based on an ethnographic analysis of childfree communities, and on the lexographical processing of Internet posts, this paper analyses the evolution of speech about childlessness in the English-speaking world. Over the past dozen years, environmental fears have progressively emerged as a main concern among the Internet pages and groups that we studied. While childfree communities have been long divided between those who lament their infertility and those who defend a life without children, new “antinatalist” discourses have emerged that place population reduction as a legitimate political aim and/or a valid ethical proposition. Childfree life, seen as neither a curse nor an opportunity, tends to be more frequently associated with an altruistic decision in the face of impending ecological disasters. By describing these discourses, and retracing their evolution and distribution, this paper studies the emergence of new ethical concerns that defend childfree lives as an ecological choice and a new approach to population growth. |

| Summary, etc. | A partir de la etnografía en línea de las comunidades childfree y del tratamiento lexicográfico de las publicaciones seleccionadas, el artículo estudia la evolución de los discursos sobre la vida sin hijos en el mundo anglosajón. A lo largo de la última década, los argumentos ecológicos han tenido cada vez más eco en las páginas y grupos estudiados. Durante mucho tiempo, el movimiento childfree ha estado estructurado por la oposición entre la infertilidad y la firme voluntad de la no paternidad, y se abre, cada vez más, a las llamadas posiciones “antinatalistas” que hacen de la reducción de la población un objetivo político o una posición ética. No es una maldición ni una oportunidad: la vida sin hijos se está convirtiendo para algunos en una decisión altruista y racional que se impone para afrontar la inminente catástrofe ecológica. Al caracterizar estos argumentos y su difusión, el artículo cuestiona el sentido de los discursos que hacen que la vida sin hijos no sea un impedimento sino la expresión de una relación diferente con el mundo y con la población. |
