Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Sharing economy has become a popular and controversial topic these years, not only with regard to traditional industries, but also inside itself. Whether money should be included in sharing is one of the hottest debated topics. Interestingly, both monetary and non-monetary sharing platforms can be successful, and can even attract the same users. This paper tries to answer how sharing economy platforms coexist and differentiate, especially for those which are different in monetary strategies. Since users are at the core of sharing economy, an approach of motivation is employed in the research. The survey and interview of Airbnb and Couchsurfing users show that users of merely one platform tend to realize all their motivations on the platform, whereas users of two platforms know how to use each platform to meet their needs. Suggestions for sharing economy entrepreneurs, policy makers and traditional industries are discussed in the end of the paper. |
