| Summary, etc. | Since the first birth of a girl following an ovarian tissue transplantation previously cryopreserved in Belgium in 2004, many children have been born following this technique. Given these proven results, ovarian tissue cryopreservation is now a validated fertility preservation technique. It is mainly indicated prior to highly gonadotoxic treatments. As the ovarian follicle is responsible for the reproductive and endocrine functions of the ovary, in around 90% of cases, ovarian tissue transplantation also enables ovarian hormonal function to be restored. This article briefly relates the evolution of French legislation about ovarian cortex cryopreservation, which, since the last Bioethics Law of 2021, has made ovarian tissue transplantation also possible to restore hormonal ovarian function outside of any parenthood project. |

| Summary, etc. | Depuis la première naissance d’une petite fille après une greffe de fragments de cortex ovarien préalablement cryoconservés, en 2004, en Belgique, de nombreux enfants ont pu naître grâce à cette technique. En raison de ces bons résultats, la cryoconservation de cortex ovarien est maintenant une technique validée de préservation de la fertilité. Elle est principalement indiquée avant des traitements très gonadotoxiques. Le follicule ovarien assurant les fonctions de procréation et endocrine de l’ovaire, la greffe de cortex ovarien permet aussi, dans environ 90 % des cas, de rétablir la fonction hormonale ovarienne. Le présent article relate brièvement l’évolution de la réglementation française autour de la cryoconservation de cortex ovarien pour aboutir, depuis la dernière loi de bioéthique de 2021, à ce que la greffe de cortex ovarien puisse être faite aussi pour rétablir la fonction hormonale ovarienne en dehors de tout projet parental. |
