| Summary, etc. | Le mythe de l’androgyne, dans le roman de la première moitié du XXe siècle, vient consacrer les genres dans leur forme la plus conventionnelle même lorsque des tabous tenaces comme la suprématie du « masculin » sur le « féminin » ou la hiérarchie entre les genres y sont réellement brisés. Ainsi, en dépit d’un Jean Giraudoux qui – dans ce mythe – instaure la suprématie du « féminin », d’un Marcel Proust qui fustige la notion de « virilité » et des surréalistes qui refusent de hiérarchiser les genres, le « masculin » et le « féminin » gardent-ils leurs acceptions traditionnelles et figées. |

| Summary, etc. | In French novels from the first half of the twentieth century, the Androgynie myth consolidates gender categories in their most conventional form, while at the same time breaking long-standing taboos to challenge the supremacy of the « Masculine » over the « Feminine », or the hierarchy between the genders. Therefore, for example, in spite of Jean Giraudoux who instaured as norm the paramount importance of the « Feminine », or Marcel Proust who mocked the idea of « Virility », or even the Surrealists who reject gender hierarchies, both the « Masculine » and the « Feminine » maintain their traditional and fixed meanings. |
