Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Looking at digital social networks in French trade unions allows primarily to demonstrate a significant gap between confederations, that are usually at best hesitant and at worst indifferent to their use, and local authorities (departmental unions or company unions), for which exist abundant and very diverse uses, but without any homogeneity. To understand such differences, one must consider on the one hand organizational resources mobilized to enable the activity on the networks, and, on the other hand, aptitudes, skills and dispositions activated by the relevant stakeholders, but also narrative resources that social network can produce. Based on an interview survey with permanent staff in charge of driving social networks in the confederations and with local trade union activists using these tools in their activity, we demonstrate that the fragility of social networks’ use at the confederal level is due to complex relationships with expertise and professional specialization, which lead to prudent forms of activity. At the local level, there may be more and freer uses relying on more traditional activist skills. |
