Summary, etc. | Les établissements scolaires en France accueillent depuis les années soixante-dix des élèves étrangers dans des dispositifs spécifiques : Classes d’initiation (Clin) dans le premier degré, Classes d’accueil (CLA) dans le second degré. Certaines de ces classes sont ouvertes à des élèves n’ayant jamais été scolarisés antérieurement (CLA-ENSA). Ces élèves sont appelés primo-arrivants ou nouvellement arrivés (E). Cette scolarisation temporaire, qui dure au maximum une année scolaire et doit les préparer à intégrer progressivement le cursus scolaire commun, a pour objectif la maîtrise de la langue française, à la fois s’agissant de la communication courante et de son utilisation dans les autres champs disciplinaires. Les élèves venant d’Afrique francophone y occupent une place particulière à cause du statut du français dans leurs pays d’origine. |

Summary, etc. | Since the 1970s schools in France have accommodated foreign pupils in the framework of specific systems: initiation classes (Clin) in primary school, reception classes (CLA) in secondary school. Some of these classes are open to pupils who have received no previous schooling (CLA-ENSA). These pupils are called « first arrivers » (primo arrivants). This temporary schooling, which lasts one school year at most and must prepare pupils for gradual integration into the common curriculum, seeks to give these pupils mastery of the French language, both for everyday communication and other areas.The pupils from French-speaking African countries have a special position in this program because of the status of the French language in their countries of origin. |
