Summary, etc. Depuis plus de vingt ans maintenant, l’Institut médico-éducatif Yves Farge de Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), établissement de l’association OVE (Œuvre des villages d’enfants) accueillant cent-vingt adolescent(e)s présentant des troubles des fonctions cognitives, est résolument engagé dans la scolarisation des élèves en situation de handicap. La promulgation de la loi du 11 février 2005 est intervenue pour institutionnaliser et renforcer cette démarche. Le développement des UPI (Unités pédagogiques d’intégration) et des partenariats avec des établissements de l’Éducation nationale ont permis de scolariser davantage d’élèves et de manière plus personnalisée grâce au « temps partagé ». Cet article présente l’état actuel de l’accompagnement à la scolarisation par l’IME, les partenariats, l’USS (un dispositif spécifique de soutien à la scolarisation), en perspective d’un processus historique de transformation des mentalités et des pratiques professionnelles.

Summary, etc. The Educational and Medical Institute (IME) Yves Farge in Vaulx-en-Velin, France, is an institution managed by the association OVE accomodating one hundred and twenty adolescents with cognitive disorders. For more than twenty years it has been resolutely committed to offer schooling for pupils with disability. The promulgation of the French law of February 11, 2005 institutionalized and reinforced this step. The development of UPI (teaching units of schooling) and the partnerships with schools of the Ministry of education have made it possible to provide education for more pupils and with a more personalized project, thanks to “time-sharing”. This article reports the present state of the IME schooling, its partnerships and the USS (a specific organisation within the IME, providing support for schooling), in a historical perspective of the process of change of mentalities and professional practices.
