Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Starting from the observation that the social field of action produces and consumes many categories (cogntive, legal, technical or managerial), unseparable from the various argumentative chains that enable them to exist, the author seeks to show how this categorial and argumentative production is socially determined. He thus presents three pairs of categories and arguments. Firstly, analytical arguments and arguments based on expertise which, in a scientific framework, can be relatively autonomous productions, while confronting the social conditions of expertise. Secondly, the pragmatic categories linked to arguments of expediency, which are usually hybrid, half-cognitive half-administrative tools, often improvised opportunistically, are aimed at allocating resources, organizing action or motivating the persons involved. Lastly, there are the managerial categories and arguments of utility, which tend to establish, in particular in the framework of the LOLF (framework law governing laws on finance), the hegemony of financial rationality and the entrepreneurial culture of result and productivity, in the name of the final customer-user. In the author’s opinion, training in epistemology is more than ever necessary to offset the cumulative effects and utilitarian horizon of this wave of normative production. |
