Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Why do we fail to realize that some human beings start speaking with their hands and hearing with their eyes very early in life? Why, rather than drawing lessons from this desire, do care-providers and educators of such young children remain so deaf to it? The purpose of this article is to place in perspective the societal dynamic which tends to eliminate French Sign Language from care-providing and education in ways other than banning it, as was done previously. The article seeks to understand how this denial, which exists on the cultural level, directly affects the transmission of French Sign Language, and how the text of our modernity and its sanitary penchants, although formally recognizing such forms of language, paradoxically hasten to eliminate them. |
