| Summary, etc. | Cet article, paru initialement en 1978 dans la revue October, traite des rapports singuliers que le médium photographique entretient avec le miroir en proposant d’envisager le second comme le moment proprement réflexif du premier. Partant d’un cliché de Brassaï, l’auteur cherche les instruments de compréhension de la réflexivité photographique dans la mise en abyme littéraire. En se servant d’outils empruntés à la linguistique, l’anthropologie structurale et la déconstruction, il développe une argumentation qui vise à détacher la photographie de sa fonction purement mimétique ou analogique pour la rapprocher de la discursivité du langage. |

| Summary, etc. | Photography en abymeInitially published in the Summer 1978 issue of October, this article addresses the particular relationship that artists have developed between photography and mirror, proposing to consider the latter as the very reflexive moment of the former. Taking as its starting point a photograph by Brassaï, the author examines the photographic self-reflexivity through the prism of the literary process of mise en abyme. Nourished by linguistics, structural anthropology, and deconstruction theory, his argumentation aims to detach photography from its purely mimetic function in order to bring it closer to the discursive workings of language. |
