| Summary, etc. | La surdité, de même que le corps, ne sont pas des données brutes, naturelles, mais font l’objet d’interprétations individuelles et sociales : tous les acteurs ne parlent pas de la même chose quand ils parlent de « corps sourd », ils n’en ont pas la même représentation. Ce corps est représenté tantôt dans la diminution, la plainte, tantôt dans la jouissance, la performance ; il est objet d’une demande médicale ou instrument de revendication sociale. C’est en se rattachant à l’une ou l’autre représentation, ou bien en articulant l’une et l’autre que les sujets construisent leur représentation du corps en question : corps biologique, corps social, corps à soi. Les représentations ne sont pas déterminées, dans un lien de causalité directe, par le rapport « objectif » à la surdité (être professionnel ou être jeune sourd), mais résultent de divers facteurs (individuels, environnementaux, socio-culturels) interagissant de façon imprévisible lors de la construction de « la réalité » du corps observé et de « la réalité » du corps vécu. |

| Summary, etc. | The deafness, same as the body, are not natural matters, but they are the subject of individual and social interpretations : everyone doesn’t speak about the same thing when he speaks about “the deaf body” and doesn’t have the same representation. This body is represented as diminished, complaining or as enjoying and performing, requesting medical help or claiming social rights. People select one representation or link together both representations to elaborate their own representation of the body : biological body, social body, oneself body. The representations aren’t directly linked to “objective” position in the field of deafness (to be a profesional or to be a young deaf person), but to several variables (individuals, contextuals, socioculturals) interacting unpredictabily to construct “the reality” of the observed body and “the reality” of the body experience. |
