Summary, etc. Cet article a d’abord pour objet de caractériser les pratiques culturelles des adolescents scolarisés en Segpa afin de mieux comprendre leur difficulté à s’investir dans la lecture de textes longs. La centration persistante des actions scolaires de remédiation sur la maitrise du code semble ne pas leur avoir permis de percevoir l’intérêt même de cet apprentissage technique, ni par conséquent de devenir autonomes dans leur accès à la littérature. Quelques pistes s’offrent néanmoins à l’enseignant pour devenir passeur de culture littéraire : choisir des œuvres accessibles, capables de faire écho aux préoccupations des adolescents, et les aider à pénétrer dans l’univers de la fiction narrative, en mettant leurs mots sur les expériences humaines visées, avant même de rencontrer le texte. Des pratiques de lecture partagée et guidée, incluant des dimensions plus largement sociales (journal, mise en scène…) sont de nature à mettre les apprentissages techniques au service de l’autonomie culturelle.

Summary, etc. The main purpose of this article is to characterize the cultural practices of adolescents in adapted general and vocational schools (Segpa - Sections d’enseignement général etprofessionnel adapté) in order to better understand their difficulty in starting to read long texts. The persistent focus of remedial activities on mastering codes apparently fails to show the relevance of this learning technique. Or it consequently has not given autonomy to this technique, which would open up pupils’ access to literature. Several possibilities, however, are open to the teacher to become a link between the pupil and literary culture. The teacher can choose accessible works, can reflect the concerns of adolescents, and can help them enter the world of narrative fiction by relating their words to the human experiences in the texts even before the pupils encounter the text itself. Practices of shared and guided reading, including more broadly social dimensions (newspaper, staging...), can help make technical learning serve cultural autonomy.
