| Summary, etc. | Malgré un contexte favorable, la scénographie peinerait encore aujourd’hui à être reconnue comme un art à part entière, comme peut l’être, par exemple, l’installation. S’il faut en chercher les raisons, il est intéressant de se pencher sur les discours, comme les expressions imaginées à son égard, pour que les doutes disparaissent sur sa nature, pour que tout quiproquo soit levé. Mais, à trop vouloir légitimer, ne risque-t-on pas de créer des situations ambiguës où la scénographie perdrait une part de son essentialité comme de ce qui a fait son histoire ? |

| Summary, etc. | Despite a favorable artistic context, scenography still struggles to be recognized as an art form in and of itself, as does for example, the art installation. As we search for the cause of this struggle it is informative and revealing to lean on certain current discourse surrounding scenography and all that has been imagined of it, in order to remove any doubt to its nature and to dispel any misunderstanding. Yet, in trying too hard to legitimize, we might risk creating ambiguous situations in which scenography would lose part of its broad history as it claims its essence. |
