Summary, etc. | Les enfants malades de l’école ne sont pas uniquement ceux qui échouent. Il existe des cas où, comme dans certaines formes d’échec, la réussite scolaire est alimentée par la souffrance. C’est cet aspect paradoxal de la réussite qui est exposé à la lumière de la psychanalyse ; paradoxal en ce sens que la réussite scolaire, contrairement aux idées reçues, n’aboutit pas systématiquement à une réussite professionnelle et ou sociale et qu’elle peut, au même titre que certaines formes d’échec, représenter un symptôme. Ce symptôme peut être qualifié de symptôme positif, dans la mesure où il prend la forme d’une valeur sociétale et où, par conséquent, il peut masquer plus qu’il n’alerte. Notre regard se porte ici sur ces enfants, ces adolescents, qui réussissent grâce à un hyper-investissement de leur scolarité et qui, en fin d’études ou au moment d’accéder à leur vie professionnelle, font échouer leur réussite d’une façon ou d’une autre. |

Summary, etc. | Children who have been damaged by school are not only those who fail. There are cases where, as in certain types of failure, success is achieved through suffering. It is this paradoxical aspect of success which I have studied in a psychoanalytical manner; paradoxical in the sense that scholastic success, contrary to accepted ideas, doesn’t always lead to professional and or social success. It could, just as failure, actually represent a symptom. This symptom can be qualified as the positive symptom insofar as it takes the form of social value and consequently may cover up rather than alert one to an underlying problem. We are looking here at those children or teenagers who succeed due to over-working which, at the end of their studies or when they are finally entering professional life, can lead to failure in one way or another. |
