Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Inclusive education is the subject of lively debates both in Germany and France although the number of children in each in a situation of disability or with special educational needs is quite different. We usually view the situations of these children from the point of view of adults. This research, however, based on the sociology of childhood and the heritage of Disability Studies, takes into account the words of children. Eleven classes in five schools in France and Germany were observed. The author found a great variety of relations between children in a situation of disability and other children (from recognition to rejection), but especially greater acceptance of children in a situation of disability in cooperative classes and classes in contact with representatives of teachers. A sensitive and unresolved issue is the continuity of the presence of children in a situation of disability in different places of their daily life : in the classroom, in the school system or outside of school. Lastly, we can raise the possibility of providing help to a child in a situation of disability through a “delegate” child. |
