Summary, etc. Issu du Plan Espoir banlieues (2008), le dispositif des internats d’excellence propose l’accès en internat pour les élèves dits «  motivés » issus des catégories populaires, particulièrement ceux venant d’établissements d’éducation prioritaire et de quartiers de la politique de la ville. Du fait de la marge de manœuvre laissée au personnel éducatif, les internats d’excellence se sont déclinés selon les situations locales. Certains internats d’excellence ont notamment fait le choix de scolariser les internes hors de leur structure. À partir de la monographie de l’un d’entre eux, nous montrerons que, même si les professionnels annoncent un objectif d’intégration des internes, celui-ci est peu travaillé. C’est surtout aux élèves que revient la tâche de s’adapter pour répondre aux attentes de l’institution scolaire.

Summary, etc. Founded by the “ Espoir banlieue” program (2008), in the wake of the urban riots that took place in France, the policy of boarding schools of excellence aims to enroll pupils from disadvantaged groups who live in “ banlieues”, that is to say economically and socially disadvantaged areas around cities. These boarding schools of excellence, because of their relative autonomy, are characterized by different patterns configured by local situations. Some of them have chosen to send their pupils to study outside their walls. Based on a monographic research, we will show that, even if the professionals claim a goal of integration, it has been elaborated only little. It is the students’ responsibility to take charge of their integration to respond to meet school expectations.
