Summary, etc. | Dans cette contribution, une professeure des écoles décrit ce qui l’a conduite à pratiquer des moments d’échanges collectifs pour aider des élèves à dépasser des conflits interpersonnels et à développer leur empathie envers leurs camarades. Le propos s’appuie tout d’abord sur une réflexion à la fois théorique et pédagogique autour de la notion d’empathie, en lien avec la qualité du climat scolaire. S’ensuit la description de deux séances de conseil d’élèves menées au sein d’une classe de CM1. L’interaction de deux jeunes filles est en particulier analysée au regard du rôle du professeur dans une tentative de dépassement de la situation de conflit existant entre ces deux élèves. Le propos tend à montrer que le développement de l’empathie interindividuelle des élèves ne va pas de soi et nécessite une médiation pédagogique dans laquelle l’empathie du professeur a pour rôle de susciter celle de chaque élève. |

Summary, etc. | In this contribution, a school teacher describes what led her to engage in moments of collective exchange to help pupils overcome interpersonal conflicts and develop empathy for their peers. First, the aim is based on a theoretical and pedagogical reflection on the notion of empathy, in relation to the quality of the school climate. This is followed by a description of two pupils’ counselling sessions in a fifth grade class. The interaction of two young girls is particularly analyzed in relation to the role of the teacher in an attempt to overcome the conflict situation between these two pupils. The purpose of the statement is to show that the development of interindividual empathy of pupils is not self-evident and requires a pedagogical mediation in which the teacher’s empathy has the role of eliciting that of each pupil. |
