| Summary, etc. | Françoise Leclerc du Sablon nous propose son parcours d’enseignante en maison d’arrêt, un parcours atypique où le verbe enseigner prend un nouveau sens avec des élèves adultes détenus, élèves tout à la fois si connus et si particuliers, des élèves en situation d’illettrisme, pour lesquels on ne parlera pas de chiffres mais de personnes qui vivent le choc de l’incarcération, qui ont connu la violence, les addictions et qui ont leurs propres représentations de l’école et du métier d’élève ; des personnes qui ont des causes réelles et sérieuses de ne pas savoir suffisamment lire, écrire et compter, mais qui pourtant ont de réelles capacités intellectuelles ; des personnes avec qui il faut reprendre à la source l’apprentissage, en gardant toute sa place au projet de chacune. | Summary, etc. | Françoise Leclerc du Sablon presents her experience as a teacher in prisons. Her experience is atypical, and for her the verb teach takes on a new meaning with adult prisoners. The pupils she teaches are both familiar and very specific, pupils in a situation of illiteracy. Here the teaching is not about numbers. We are dealing with people suffering from prison shock, people who have experienced violence and addictions. They have their own representations of schools and of being a pupil. They have real and serious causes for not knowing how to read, write, and count sufficiently. But they possess real intellectual capacities. Teachers must start the learning process from the very beginning with them, keeping in mind each individual’s life plan. The author invites us to her classes, she presents several portraits.
