520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Every human’s connection to language does not only rely on the acoustics but also relates to the visual, the gesture and the sense of touch. In that respect, we have much to learn from deaf boys and girls’ early understanding and from the way they start to speak, as soon as they encounter sign languages. They are attracted by and relate to sign languages which bear the dimensions of desire that make us human. Despite the above, how does one consider “ parental support” and the notion of “ a deaf child” which are still analysed in the cultural belief that speaking and hearing is only possible through sounds? Which words are commonly used to reveal a deafness diagnosis? Through which unquestioned expert beliefs? Ethically, it is crucial to question the cultural denial that is omnipresent here. It reveals a scientific sham which has damaging consequences.
