Summary, etc. | Nous tentons de montrer que l’élève subit à l’école une violence symbolique du fait de l’enseignement grammatical et plus particulièrement de celui de la morphologie verbale. L’analyse s’adosse à la description de Bourdieu (1970, puis 1980) concernant l’action pédagogique et à celle de Braud (2003). Les élèves – mais aussi les enseignants – subissent une violence du fait de l’absence de mise en relation entre la langue étudiée à l’école et celle qu’ils utilisent quotidiennement, alors même qu’il leur est dit que cet enseignement est au service des pratiques langagières. L’analyse s’appuie, d’une part, sur des réponses d’élèves à des enquêtes (2002 et 2013) et, d’autre part, sur l’étude des prescriptions institutionnelles. |

Summary, etc. | We seek to show that pupils are subjected to symbolic violence in school through the teaching of grammar, in particular the teaching of the morphology of verbs. The analysis made by the author is in line with the description of Bourdieu (1970, and then 1980) of pedagogical action, and that of Braud (2003). Pupils – but also teachers – are subjected to violence due to the fact that the language studied in school is not related to the language used in everyday life, although they are told that this teaching serves the actual practice of language. This analysis is based, on the one hand, on the responses of pupils to surveys (2002 an 2013), and on the other hand the study of institutional guidelines. |
