520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The experience of a mother of two children with ADHD shows that schooling of these children is far from being easy. Even when their intelligence is higher than average, which is the case of these two girls, their ADHD constitutes an invisible disability because their teachers are unaware of it. As a result, such pupils can find themselves in great difficulty despite their considerable personal qualities. In addition, as these two pupils are girls, their difficulties are even less clearly perceived, and teachers tend to want to treat them just like the other pupils without taking into account their special needs. So the story presented in this article, especially that of the second daughter, is particularly problematic as it leads to conflict and expulsion from school... It is even harder for parents to help their children when contact with teachers is rare, which often leads to misunderstandings, and sometimes, as in this case, to a conflictual situation. |
