| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’article est une contribution à la révision du concept de stigmate. L’auteur fait un retour historique sur la théorie de l’étiquetage dont il présente les affirmations théoriques et les oppositions qu’elles suscitèrent. Les travaux de la théorie de l’étiquetage modifiée forgée par Bruce Link et ses collaborateurs ont opéré une révision-extension du concept de stigmate à partir d’études dans le champ de psychiatrie. Ils s’attachent à mesurer les conséquences du stigmate et la part de l’autostigmatisation chez les usagers de la psychiatrie. Les six extensions conceptuelles proposées par la théorie de l’étiquetage modifiée (étiquetage – distance sociale – stéréotypisation – discrimination – pouvoir – émotions) sont présentées et argumentées. Les implications pour une politique anti-stigmate et les résistances qu’elle soulève en psychiatrie sont discutées et commentées. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper is a contribution to the revision of the concept of stigma. The author makes a historical return on the premises of the labelling theory and the oppositions it draw. Works of the modified labelling theory forged by Bruce Link and collaborators bring about a revision-extension of the concept of stigma in the field of psychiatry. They aim at measuring the consequences of stigma and the role of self-stigma by the psychiatric consumers. Six conceptual extensions (labelling – social distance – stereotypization – discrimination – power – emotions) are presented and outlined. The implications for an anti-stigma policy and the resistances it raises are discussed and commented. |
