Summary, etc. Le but premier de toute éducation est de faire intérioriser par les enfants les normes de la culture à laquelle ils appartiennent, et les habitudes de pensée qui les feront agir. Les institutions de normalisation – comme l’école – produisent donc le conformisme requis pour vivre «  normalement » dans la société. Mais le comportement jugé anormal d’un élève ne pourrait-il être vu non comme son anormalité, mais comme un indice, ou un symptôme, d’un trouble de l’institution même qu’il perturbe ? La voie proposée par Freinet fut celle d’une rénovation scolaire par une humanisation des pratiques d’enseignement et une transformation du milieu pour ces pratiques.
