| Summary, etc. | Au portique de la deuxième étape (« semaine ») des Exercices spirituels composés par Ignace de Loyola se trouve l’étonnante parabole d’un roi temporel dont le retraitant est invité à considérer l’appel, en vue de se disposer à « contempler la vie du (Christ), Roi éternel », objet des trois « semaines » qui suivent ( Ex. Spir. 91-99). L’A. suggère que la confrontation de deux autorités ecclésiales aujourd’hui en Russie relève du premier temps de la parabole plus que du second. Confirmée par l’enseignement du Concile Vatican II, cette relecture actualisée de la méditation du « Règne » laisse entendre, dans sa visée œcuménique, que la conversion s’opère toujours par une offrande « de plus haut prix ». |

| Summary, etc. | At the threshold of the second stage (week) of Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises can be found the astonishing parable of a temporal king whose call the retreatant is invited to consider with a view to contemplating the life of Christ, eternal King and object of the meditations of the three weeks that follow ( Sp. Ex. 91-99). The writer suggests that the confrontation in Russia today between two ecclesiastical authorities is a factor of the first movement of the parable rather than of the second. This renewed reading of the meditation on the reign, confirmed by the teaching of Vatican II, proclaims, in its ecumenical intention, that conversion is always brought about through an « offering of the highest price ». |
