520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | This article analyzes the legal case that was brought to court as a result of alarming information provided by a hospital. A mother was accused of using a false diagnosis of autism for her three children. After a trial on the basis of a psychiatric examination, the three children were entrusted to the Aide Sociale à l’Enfance (Childhood Social Aid Service). And even though the diagnoses of these children was later confirmed by the local Centre de Ressources Autisme (Autism Resource Center), the appeal of this decision by a confirmed lawyer was rejected. This case is first presented chronologically, and then analyzed from the point of view of the history of autism. The purpose is to show that this situation is the result of a troubled history, characterized by polemics between witnesses and autism experts, as well as polemics among experts themselves. Moreover, the context of the social networks in which this case develop is analyzed and taken into account. The author points to a world of research which is still foreign to this new context. But this context of social networks can offer many testimonials from the field. |
