Il interroge le sens que prend dans la société française la notion de « crise de l’école » et passe en revue à la fois les profondes transformations qui touchent le système scolaire et les raisons culturelles pour lesquelles on résiste à reformer un modèle conçu pour une élite sociale alors que la population scolaire s’est considérablement élargie et diversifiée, raisons qu’il rapporte au fait que l’école a hérité d’une fonction de salut qui est celle de l’Église, ou encore aux rigidités mentales, institutionnelles ou étatiques. |

Summary, etc. | In an interview, the author passes in review the main problems affecting the French educational system. He questions the meaning of the notion of crisis in French society, the notion of « school crisis », and examines the deep transformations affecting the school system. He suggests that the resistances opposed to its reformation are due to the inadequacy of a model conceived for a social elite in a situation marked by a considerable increase and diversification of the school population. He further attributes this situation to the fact that the School has inherited from the Church a function of salvation, and also to mental, institutional and state rigidities. |
