| Summary, etc. | RésuméLes objets de l’analyse urbaine recouvrent le plus souvent les constructions et les superstructures développées par l’homme. Dimensions sociale, politique, économique et urbanistique au sens large sont ainsi régulièrement parcourues et interrogées. Trop rarement la ville est analysée, ou tout simplement décrite, dans toutes ses dimensions naturelles. Elle est effacée derrière cette artificialité qui la caractérise. Au même titre que le milieu rural, la ville est un milieu géographique avec des composantes humaines mais aussi physiques. Face aux crises sociale, économique et écologique qui touchent nos milieux de vie, dans le contexte d’une humanité habitant majoritairement l’urbain, il nous a semblé nécessaire de réinterroger la ville : de mettre au jour les natures dans la ville et de faire réémerger les processus écologiques de l’analyse urbaine associés à la fragmentation et aux ségrégations spatiales. L’agglomération de Rouen a été le site de cette expérimentation. |

| Summary, etc. | How to rediscover nature in urban analyses. Cities are usually described and analysed through their social, human or artificial objects and structures. They are also the environment of the major part of humankind. By environment we mean nature which, in current urban analyses or perceptions, essentially consists of leisure, ornamental or hygienic plants and vegetation, and animals. Nature in cities cannot be limited to these functions if we want to understand this environment as the habitat of human beings. In developing our project, we therefore attempted to offer different viewpoints and new indicators for urban analyses.The novelty of this work is to reveal the environment of urban dwellers through it’s materiality as well as through individual relations to this materiality. Social, economic and housing indicators are only included to complete the nature analysis and help us to paint a global view of urban spaces. Taking Rouen as a case study, we focused our work on the analysis of spatial fragmentation and segregation in urban areas through ecological indicators. This offers a different and novel way of approaching what could be a “sustainable city”. |
