| Summary, etc. | RésuméDurant les deux dernières décennies, la conservation de la biodiversité est devenue un enjeu majeur à l’échelle planétaire. La biologie de la conservation vise à comprendre les causes de la perte de biodiversité, à l’enrayer et à promouvoir l’utilisation durable des ressources naturelles. Si l’approche pluridisciplinaire annoncée par ses fondateurs contraste encore souvent avec des travaux marqués par un déficit de prise en compte des dimensions socioéconomiques, les travaux de recherche ont fortement évolué ces dernières années. Ils mobilisent de plus en plus les différentes disciplines. Les coopérations fructueuses alliant réflexivité et pragmatisme sont nombreuses, notamment via les approches participatives et la recherche-action, et conduisent à repenser la place de la science dans notre société. |

| Summary, etc. | Can conservation biology do without social and human sciences? Current situationIn the past two decades biodiversity has become a major issue at global scale. Conservation biology aims to understand the root-causes of losses in biodiversity, to halt them and to promote a wise use of natural resources. Research work has evolved although the multi-field approach recommended by its founders is still often marked by lack of integration of social and economic issues. An increasingly wide panel of disciplines has been mobilized in a more integrative approach. There are numerous examples of fruitful collaboration combining reflectivity and pragmatism, including through participatory approaches and action-research. They lead to reconsidering the place of science in our society. |
