| Summary, etc. | Besançon, ville moyenne de l’est de la France, s’industrialise et connaît une forte poussée démographique après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. De nombreux ouvriers algériens viennent y chercher un emploi. Aux débuts des années cinquante, le nationalisme algérien est beaucoup plus puissant dans la région de Montbéliard dans les usines Peugeot qu’à Besançon où il reste faible. En revanche, après le déclenchement de la guerre d’Algérie, le FLN s’implante rapidement et sans difficulté dans la ville. Tout au long du conflit il encadre la population algérienne et organise les collectes. Cette réussite montre l’attractivité du FLN en métropole. |

| Summary, etc. | Besancon, a medium-sized town located in eastern France, becomes an industrialized city and the population rises sharply after World War II. Many Algerian workers come to seek employment there. In the early fifties, Algerian nationalism has a greater influence in Montbéliard region where is located the car factories Peugeot factories than in Besançon where Algerian nationalism doesn’t really develop until the outbreak of the Algerian war. Then, the NLF (National Liberation Front) grows quickly. Throughout the conflict the NLF supervises the Algerian population and organizes the fund-rising. This success shows the attractiveness of the NLF in France. |
