| Summary, etc. | Dès la première organisation de l’enseignement en AOF en 1903, l’objectif était de fonder une école « adaptée », par l’enseignement du milieu local et donc de l’histoire locale. L’histoire a notamment été investie d’une mission idéologique visant à démontrer les bienfaits de la colonisation française en Afrique en contraste avec un passé chaotique. La réflexion sur la décolonisation de l’histoire et son enseignement a été engagée avant les indépendances, nourrissant le combat politique. Après les indépendances, l’histoire est mobilisée et diffusée à travers le canal de l’école par les nouveaux États africains indépendants pour construire les États nations. Au Sénégal, les programmes ont été révisés à plusieurs reprises, allant vers un recentrage sur le national. Dans cet article, il s’agit de retracer le long processus de décolonisation de l’histoire scolaire, à partir du cas de l’Afrique de l’Ouest francophone et plus spécifiquement du Sénégal. |

| Summary, etc. | From the very first organization of education in French West Africa in 1903, the aim was to create an “adapted” school, by teaching the local environment and therefore local history. In particular, history was invested with an ideological mission to demonstrate the benefits of French colonization in Africa, in contrast with a chaotic African past. Reflection on the decolonization of history and its teaching began before independence. It fueled the political struggle. After independence, history was mobilized and disseminated through schools by the newly independent African states to build nation states. In Senegal, the curricula have been revised several times, moving towards a refocusing on Senegal. The aim of this article is to retrace the long process of decolonization of school history, based on the case of French-speaking West Africa and Senegal. |
