Summary, etc. | Le coaching en outplacement individuel s’adresse à des cadres et dirigeants en recherche d’emploi. Cette étude socioclinique montre dans quelle mesure l’employabilité des outplacés, qui dépend d’un contexte économique, social et organisationnel, est réduite à une psychologisation des rapports sociaux. Nous étudions comment les bénéficiaires de ce service marchand intériorisent la responsabilité de retrouver un emploi et, plus précisément, d’adhérer à la norme sociale d’un soi employable, désirable et compétitif. Leur implication requise est contrainte par les pratiques prescriptives et réflexives des consultants-coachs : changer de posture, faire le deuil du passé et gérer efficacement son temps et sa présentation de soi. Or, lorsque les contradictions vécues dans la perte d’emploi ne sont pas élaborées autrement que par un discours et des pratiques modélisés, l’accompagnement devient paradoxant. |

Summary, etc. | Outplacement coaching is aimed at executives and managers seeking employment. This socioclinical study shows to what extent the employability of outplaced people, which depends on the economic, social, and organizational context, is reduced to a psychologization of social relationships. We study how the beneficiaries of this commercial service internalize the responsibility of finding a job, and more precisely of adhering to the social norm of an employable, desirable, and competitive self. Their required involvement is constrained by the prescriptive and reflexive practices of the consultant-coaches: changing one’s attitude, mourning the past, and effectively managing one’s time and self-presentation. However, when the contradictions experienced in job loss are not elaborated in any way other than through a modeled discourse and practices, the coaching becomes paradoxical. |
