| Summary, etc. | Gweigga a passé 26 ans dans les camps de réfugiés sahraouis. En 1997, à 85 ans, elle livre le témoignage de son parcours de vie, paradigmatique de cette génération qui a connu l’époque du grand nomadisme chamelier. S’adressant à la fois à l’anthropologue qui l’interroge et aux jeunes qui l’entourent, elle raconte les grands campements de son enfance, les personnages hauts en couleur de sa famille qui la gâtaient, son gavage, son mariage et les beaux moments de retrouvailles sur les pâturages. Contrainte comme tant d’autres à la sédentarisation par la grande sécheresse des années 1960-1970 elle s’installe à Zouérate, puis rejoint les camps de réfugiés en 1979. De la révolution sahraouie elle retient surtout le statut de la femme et l’éducation des enfants, ce « progrès » qui lui semble essentiel. |

| Summary, etc. | Gweigga spent 26 years in the Saharawi refugee camps. In 1997, at the age of 85, she gave an account of her life journey, paradigmatic of this generation that experienced the era of the great camel nomadism. Addressing both the anthropologist who interviewed her and the young people around her, she recounts the large camps of her childhood, the colourful members of her family who spoiled her, her force-feeding, her marriage and the beautiful moments of reunion on the pastures. Forced, like so many others, to settle down by the great drought of the 1960s and 1970s, she settled in Zouérate, then joined the refugee camps in 1979. From the Saharawi revolution she retains above all the status of women and the education of children, this “progress” which seems essential to her. |
