| Summary, etc. | Si l’Église a toujours soutenu la légitime défense et l’intégration de fidèles au sein des armées, elle n’a jamais justifié la fabrique d’armes, et encore moins la course au perfectionnement de l’armement, spécialement au sein d’un monde en proie au technicisme. Cet article sur l’éthique de la fabrication des armes met en perspective la doctrine de l’Église face à un risque d’immoralisme contemporain pour le chrétien du xxie siècle. Il fait écho à la récente encyclique où le pape pape François invite les hommes de bonne volonté à ne pas être « perturbés d’être traités de naïfs pour avoir fait le choix de la paix » ( Fratelli tutti 261). |

| Summary, etc. | If the Church has always supported the legitimate defence and the integration of the faithful within the armies, it has never justified the production of weapons, and even less the race to perfect weaponry, especially in a world in the grip of technicism. This article on the ethics of arms production puts the Church’s doctrine into perspective regarding the risk of contemporary immoralism for the twenty-first century Christian. It echoes the recent encyclical in which Pope Francis invites men of good will not to be “disturbed by being called naive for having chosen peace” ( Fratelli tutti 261). |
