520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The relationship between the biblical characters of Ahab and Jezebel in the Books of Kings offers a mirror to decipher the deadly trajectories of desire at work in the couple. When desire, loosed from the law and from the original gift to which it refers, becomes alienated in the quest for a fulfilling object intended to reinforce the imaginary identity of the subject, the latter is precipitated on a path of destruction in which he is led to his own annihilation along with the others. The biblical episode is interpreted in a psycho-anthropological perspective which pays attention to the dimension of the unconscious and put into perspective by its literary reception in Shakespeare, Racine and Melville. Death appears to be the consequence of “wanting always more life”, evil arises in a limitless longing for the good. |
