| Summary, etc. | RésuméComment expliquer la persistance d’un soupçon historiographique concernant l’existence de “candidatures officielles” lors des élections nationales de février 1871 ? En nommant des “préfets de combat”, dont beaucoup avaient participé à l’organisation des listes officielles et dont certains d’entre eux avaient été élus en avril 1848, Gambetta a pu donner l’impression à ses contemporains qu’il s’apprêtait à rejouer la partition de son prédécesseur Ledru-Rollin. Cette hypothèse a longtemps été intégrée dans les logiques de calcul des acteurs… Elle a ensuite été consolidée par l’historiographie immédiate, dont les écrits sont en règle générale peu favorables à Gambetta, et par les travaux de la commission d’enquête sur le Gouvernement de la Défense nationale. |

Appointing some “préfets de combat”, many of whom had participated in the organization of official lists and some of them were elected in April 1848, Gambetta was able to give the impression to his contemporaries he was about to replay the score of his predecessor Ledru-Rollin. This assumption has long been integrated into the logic of the actors… It was then consolidated with immediate historiography, whose writings are generally unfavorable to Gambetta, and by the work of the Commission of Inquiry on the Government of National Defense. |
