| Summary, etc. | Au moment de l’affaire Dreyfus, la Ligue des patriotes a vainement tenté un coup de force le 23 février 1899 puis en a préparé un second à l’été suivant, avant d’être paralysée par la répression policière. Déroulède voulait allier l’insurrection populaire à l’appel au sabre et estimait réunies les conditions nécessaires : une situation de crise mobilisant l’opinion parisienne, une ligue forte et résolue, des complicités civiles et militaires nombreuses, un gouvernement chancelant. Son échec s’explique autant par l’absence de ces facteurs que par une stratégie blanquiste archaïque et des lacunes tactiques insurmontables. Cet échec illustre les rapports complexes que le nationalisme a toujours entretenus avec l’idée d’insurrection. |

| Summary, etc. | The Anti-parliamentarism of the Anti-Dreyfusard NationalistsDuring the Dreyfus affair, the Ligue des patriotes unsuccessfully attempted a coup on February 23rd 1899 and then prepared a second one during the following summer, before being stopped by police repression. Déroulède wanted to combine the popular uprising to the call to violence. He felt that the conditions were met: a crisis situation who could mobilize Parisian opinion, a strong and resolute League, the presence of many civilian and military complicities, a tottering government. Its failure is due to the absence of these factors, to the archaic Blanquist strategy and its insurmountable gaps in the tactics. This failure illustrates the complex relationships that nationalism has always maintained with the idea of insurrection. |
