| Summary, etc. | L’article part d’un constat : alors que la figure de la victime monte en puissance dans les espaces publics et médiatiques au cours de la seconde moitié du xxe siècle, certains journaux de la PQN semblent rétifs à l’inviter au débat politique qu’ils mettent en scène concernant la récidive criminelle entre 1997 et 2008. L’article expose les raisons (professionnelles, sociologiques, éditoriales, symboliques, etc.) qui expliquent la rareté de la présence victimaire sur le plan politique dans ces quotidiens et ses conséquences. Il montre notamment en quoi le débat organisé par les journalistes de la PQN correspond plus à ce que ce débat devrait être à leurs yeux qu’à la manière dont il se déroule dans l’espace public. Il interroge par ce biais la résistance de ces espaces médiatiques face à l’évolution des formes de la prise de parole publique et politique et aux modalités de l’organisation du débat sur la récidive. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper focuses on the place of the victims in the mediatization of the criminal recidivism (1997-2008). Our corpus gathers four newspapers of the national daily press. The study starts with a paradox: while the victim has risen as a proeminent figure in politics and medias since 1980’s, it turns out that in those newspapers, victims are seldonely invited to debate with the other social actors. The paper identifies the reasons underlying this debate “staging” and its consequences. More precisely, it shows on one hand that the debate the four newspapers build is shaped as the debate they think is appropriate rather than the one that actually takes place in the public sphere. On the other hand, it questions the resistance of this kind of press to consider the evolution of the public expression and how this debate is organised. |
