| Summary, etc. | Les dispositifs participatifs de vigilance se développent en France depuis plus d’une décennie par des partenariats entre les mairies et les forces publiques de police, notamment dans les zones sous compétence de la gendarmerie. Faut-il y voir un rapprochement des forces de l’ordre avec la population, une ouverture des polices d’État aux citoyen·nes ? Ou une forme de vigilantisme ? En matière de sécurité, la participation serait-elle du côté des mobilisations conservatrices plutôt que réformatrices ? Grâce à une enquête de terrain, nous nous plaçons du côté des personnes qui se portent volontaires pour comprendre leurs engagements. |

Is this proof of the opening of the police towards the community, or a case of vigilantism ? Regarding crime prevention, are participatory schemes conservative or reformative ? Involvements in neighborhood watch schemes are explored through fieldwork carried out among volunteers. |
